An ongoing series of jewelry featuring historic glass salvaged from the sidewalks of downtown Astoria, Oregon.
After the great fire in 1922, Astoria had to completely rebuild the downtown area. Vaulted glass lights were installed in the sidewalks to illuminate the underground tunnels. The glass was originally colorless, but after decades of UV exposure the glass changed to an amethyst hue. In 2020, a building owner was having the damaged glass removed from the sidewalk and intended to throw it away, but I was able to salvage the fragments and turn it into a jewelry collection.
